My philosophy of teaching is grounded in a feminist care perspective and has had a significant impact on my interactions with students. I believe that the teacher-student relationship is paramount for positive outcomes and that this relationship must be built on mutual respect. I strive to create an environment that is conducive to self discovery and fosters the skills for lifelong learning through collaborative activities. I endeavor to model these skills and present myself to students as a facilitator of their learning, providing a relaxed environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions, presenting new ideas and sharing different points of view. My hope is that my students will see me as an approachable, reliable, resource for their learning.
